The satellite sites worked in the same way as the main site in Chicago, with full participatory technology. The purpose of the satellite meetings was to engage more people in deliberation in locations beyond Chicago and incorporate their feedback into the overall results. Broad geographical participation strengthened the impact of the Town Meeting on decision makers. Fifteen satellite sites for up to 50 people each ensured a total of over 1000 participants across the nation. These satellite sites watched portions of the Town Hall meeting via webcast and participated in the discussions with the help of table facilitators, as in the Chicago central site. The Theme Team was located in Chicago and analyzed entries coming from all tables at all 16 locations (Chicago plus 15 satellites). In addition, all individual polling results from all sites moved through the internet to Chicago and were instantly displayed for all to see the aggregated polling results.
